The painter Aija Zarina was born into a communist family in rural Latvia 43 years ago. The enfant terrible of both the Soviet and the post communist petit bourgeois society, she is a happy and free spirit, beautiful, temperamental, garrulous and witty, mother of 3 children from different fathers, one of her earlier mottos was "I'm simply sexual"
She has achieved more fame abroad than in Latvia, exhibiting in museums and spaces all over Europe, Russia and North America.
