Roskilde is the largest festival in northern Europe and has been held annually since 1971. Established on non-profit principles it now attracts up to 100,000 people each year, with all proceeds donated directly to humanitarian and cultural purposes. Among the 160 acts in the line-up this year Bjork is due to headline. Many Scandinavian bands are featured, as are musicians from Vietnam and west Africa. The humanitarian focus for 2006 is the Act against Slavery campaign. The camping is well-organised with each section having its own "agora" or open space.
