In today's global society knowledge of foreign languages is an invaluable and important asset. Anybody interested in studying or working abroad will find it is often not enough to simply speak English. The added benefits of learning another language is not just that one will be able to communicate in their native tongue, but also get to know their culture.
The Council of Europe has declared 26 September an annual European Day of Languages to highlight the importance of multilingualism and celebrate linguistic diversity! It has been celebrated annually since 2001.
