Description
The TUC European Information Service (EIS), based in the TUC's Information Service, was set up in 1990 as one of the UK sectoral information relays established in conjunction with the Representation of the
European Commission in the UK. The EIS service is targeted at TUC staff and affiliated unions.
Enquiries from the general public, except where specific to trade union activity, are referred to other
appropriate information services. The EIS receives all major official EC publications and documentation
from various European Union institutions, as well as trade union and collective bargaining information from
both labour movement and commercial sources across Europe. The EIS also has access to a range of
electronic database hosts, including EUROBASES (where RAPID, the daily press information service, is
