Town Twinning Celebratory Community Event

20 September 2008

Come and find out about Wrexham’s twinning agreement on the 20th September 2008 on Queen’s Square, through music, food, discussion, information and art.  Wrexham’s European Information Service – Europe Direct is organising an event to create awareness of Wrexham’s cultural heritage in relation to the twinning agreement between Wrexham County Borough Council, Märkischer Kreis, Germany and Racibórz, Poland.

Local organisations that have been involved in the twinning agreement have been invited to come and share their experiences at the twinning market to highlight the cultural benefits of twinning and the opportunities it creates for the community.  The market will be an opportunity for local people not only to discover twinning but also sample a piece of Welsh, Polish and German culture for themselves.  Polish foods will be on offer to try and buy provided by Leonardo’s Delicatessen, or why not sample a German sausage straight from the giant BBQ?  Have a go at creating your own art and crafts with Oriel Wrecsam or find out about learning Welsh with Menter Iaith Maelor or German with Yale College, Wrexham.  Cantorion Rhos Choir will provide a musical performance not to be missed and Calon FM will be presenting and playing a variety of music throughout the day.  The event opens at 10am and closes at 3pm, is free to attend and all are welcome!
