The European Commission has launched a new website in 20 languages explaining to the general public what the money spent on the EU budget is used for. http://europa.eu/abc/budget/index_en.htm
The site, part of the "EU at a glance", includes examples of projects and areas financed by the EU. There is also a short introduction to budget procedures and the political priorities that steer EU expenditure.
The content of the site is also available as a printed brochure, which has the title "Investing in our common future".
