Welcome to the European Information Network in the North West of England

These pages provide details of information providers based in the North West who can answer all types of enquiries that you might have about the European Union, plus local European events, news and links to further information sources.

The North West of England covers more than 14 thousand square kilometres and is home to 6.8 million people, the third most populous Government Office Region after the South East and London. This is the land of Hadrian's wall, romantic poets, Beatrix Potter, and the Beatles.

Liverpool is European Capital of Culture for 2008. This is an opportunity to show that culture is central to the life of Liverpool and the North West, and demonstrates its contribution to regeneration, social inclusion, education and business. The European Capital of Culture programme is run by the European Union (EU). It aims to promote European cultural co-operation and understanding, and will require Liverpool to mount a programme of European scale and significance. It is expected to give a welcome boost to the North West region's economy.
