No-nonsense guide for UK citizens

1 October 2007

Dominic Brett, Head of Outreach, EC office in LondonThe London Representation has just produced a booklet entitled "The EU: What's in it for me?" to explain in clear English the many practical ways in which the EU has improved the lives of ordinary Britons. Head of the outreach section and author of the booklet, Dominic Brett, felt that, while Commission publications had got very much better in recent years, they were nearly always targeted at readers in all countries and so lacked the national focus and flavour needed to engage the public in a particular Member State . Although people in the UK know they can now go to Ostend to get cheaper booze; receive free emergency health care in Majorca, or study in Germany, they often don't know that it's the European Union which has brought these things about. He hopes "What's in it for me?" will help bridge the gap.
