europalia.europe

8 June 2006

The Board of Directors of Europalia International has given the green light to the organisation of the europalia.europa festival in 2007.

Since the European Union will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, and as Europe and Europalia have a privileged relationship, this is a unique occasion to organise a European cultural festival in the heart of Europe It will therefore be another outstanding event. Indeed, it will be the first time in the history of Europalia International that several countries participate together in the festival!

The festival will centre on exhibitions featuring European history of art, the interaction and the recurring links between the various European artistic fields In parallel, it will travel through contemporary Europe. The theatre, dance, music, literature and cinema programmes will be covered by a series of events created by the Member States offering a European arts event.

The festival will be developed in partnership with the countries and with the main cultural figures in Belgium and neighbouring countries. The Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels will, as always, be the focal point of the festival.
