Family Learning Festival

1 October 2008 to 31 October 2008

Europe Direct Plymouth has organised a series of free events to celebrate the Campaign for Learning's month long Family Learning Festival in the UK. Starting on 1 October with Europe at War at North Prospect Community Library, an afternoon of memory sharing over tea and cakes baked to wartime recipes will help local school children understand more about life during wartime. This is especially relevant with the events happening in the Caucasus and we hope the children will gain a lot from this event. On Saturday 4 October, from 10-4, families are invited to participate in a Family Fun Day at the Central Library. Here a range of activities exploring Creativity, Environment, Wellbeing and New Media & Technology will be on offer. Amongst the workshops booked will be Circus Skills, Cajun Drumming, Craft from recycled plastic bags, Storytelling, Science, Petanque, EU quizzes and more. On 24 October at 7pm, Crownhill Community Library is offering an evening with TV crime reporter and crime writer Simon Hall, talking about his work and the differences between crime reportage in the UK and Europe. Stone Soup Storytelling at St Budeaux Library on 30 October from 2.30-4 will round off the month's events.
